This $93 million dollar project involved the construction of luxury box sky seating, the addition of 10,000 new seats, new instant replay scoreboard and renovations to the existing structure. Due to the heavy column loading, deep foundations extending into the underlying dolomite bedrock were considered essential for this project. Caissons or drilled piers were considered costly and antiquated for this geologic setting; therefore, CMT recommended the use of minipiles or rock friction piles as the primary foundation system. CMT performed consolidation testing on the clay soils in order to predict total and differential settlement of the existing spread footings, which were subjected to a significant load increase.
