CMT’s story began in 1959 in State College, Pennsylvania as Universal Technical, Inc. CMT’s growth and experience are tied our pursuit to support the region’s growth as Penn State University continues to develop into the educational hub of the state. Field and laboratory testing services that support civil infrastructure, specifically IBC Special Inspections, are at the heart of our organization. Our laboratory maintains key accreditations in soils, concrete, and aggregate testing and our field technicians and engineers stay current with certifications in soils, concrete, masonry, EIFS, SFRM, and steel inspection and testing. Our geotechnical engineering staff, which is licensed in PA, WV, MD, VA and OH, author geotechnical investigation reports and conduct geo-structural designs that included soil nail walls, soldier pile walls (cantilever and tie-back), micropile foundations, and drilled pier (caisson) foundations. We also provide expert witness services, forensic engineering, and have unique qualifications investigating and testing expansive pyritic bedrock.
